About Dolce Vita Cycling

Dolce Vita Cycling is an Elite and Development amateur cycling team based in San Francisco, CA. We develop and mentor cyclists for competition in local and national events while promoting a healthy lifestyle and personal growth through active community involvement.

Our Elite team (Categories 1 & 2) and Development team (Categories 3, 4 & Novice) are locally and nationally recognized as a high achieving team. We strive to lead by example and to live true to our name, Dolce Vita, the sweet life! We have been a pillar of Northern California cycling since 2004 and are a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization.

[ Gone too soon ]

A week ago today we lost our teammate and friend, Colden Kimber. Colden tragically passed after succumbing to wounds sustained while protecting children from harassment at a Muni stop. He had sacrificed himself for others and perished as a hero.

Amateur competitive cycling can be solipsistic; we’ll spend hours upon hours pedaling away from our responsibilities under the pretext of training. We’ll travel great distances to gamble for our spot on the podium. It is sport and all the selfishness that comes with it. So when someone generous and kind comes along, they shine like a star.

Colden was one of those stars.

He repaired people’s bikes, he mentored fellow mechanics, he coached aspiring racers, he taught new riders how to draft. His generosity and kindness radiated through the San Francisco cycling community. Those of us who knew him were lucky to be in the radiance of this star.

Colden though we were robbed of your light much too soon, know that you live on in our hearts and that we will strive to follow in the great example that you set.

Wrapping up an awesome weekend put on by @berkeleybike at the #berkeleyomnium! The big winner for the weekend was @jacobeyj , taking 🥉in the #berkelyhillsroadrace, 🥇in the #berkeleystreetscriterium, and 🥇in the Omnium in the Elite 4 category! DVC walked away with another 🥇over the weekend in the 35+ 3/4 field with @pier_diprima taking top honors in the criterium. A new “Italian Stallion” in the making? 🤣 Also in the 35+ 3/4 field, the inaugural member of the DVC Colombian contingent @germanandresz wrapped up 🥉 in the Omnium after placing 7th in both the road race and criterium. Consistency pays off! Finally, the man, the myth, the master of data privacy - Gabe P. taking a well deserved 🥈in the 35+ 123 field after towing a 3 man break for the bulk of the race! Amazing job everyone! On to the next weekend!

After a bit of frustration from a cancelled Snelling road race (thank you @velopromo and @bike_curious for thinking safety first!), the boys lined up for the #mercedcriterium. While it didn’t go our way for the group of hitters we have lining up for our Cat 4 squad, we know there are good things to come! In the 35+123 race, our DVC diesel engine @jyangsta showed that he’s brought the huge gains in fitness across to the 2024 season, nailing 🥇in a field with some of the strongest masters racers in the #ncnca ! Congrats James, and to the rest of the squad for flying the colors! On to the next race!

Dolce Vita Cycling - 2023 Summer Team Camp! Took in West Cliff, a fierce headwind up the coast, Bonny Doon Road! And a ripping descent down Empire.

Let’s hear it for @tjsnydr who recently completed the Tour Divide from Banff to Antelope Wells, New Mexico. Tim rode a casual 2697 miles in 22 days 21 hours and 54 minutes 🤯. That’s an average of 117 miles a day on a fully loaded bike. What a monster!

“Via con dios”. No better words to be sent off with when tackling a beast like the Copperopolis Road Race. A beauty and a brute, it certainly stands up to the billing as the hardest race on the @_ncnca_ calendar! Thanks for another fantastic edition @velopromo ! DVC took home a couple of podium spots with @jyangsta finishing strong for 5th in the E3, and Aaron Smith nabbing🥉after being stuck in a break battling 3 others from an opposing team. Opening weekend baby! The @velopromo #snellingroadrace NEVER disappoints! With snow falling at 7am, flooded sections of road hiding murderous potholes, and generally frigid temps that had everyone wearing ALL the gear they had, it was a day of both carnage and celebration! Huge congratulations go to @jyangsta for crushing the bunch sprint for the 🥇in the Elite 3 race, and for “GP” motoring home to nab 🥈after riding the break of the race. Continuing the DVC tradition of Snelling podium domination and making it a DVC 1-2! Big props to @mmcginley92 for throwing repeated haymakers in the final kilometers to make the other favorites chase and still finishing in the top ten! All this with over half the squad flatting out at one point or another.

A full long weekend of racing to really get the season going, and more Dolce Vita podiums! The weekend started off with the Cantua Creek Road Race, with @seanbra picking up 🥈in the 35+ 3/4 field, and Gabe picking up 4th and a podium spot in the Elite 3 field. The DVC boys rounded out 3 days of racing at the Cherry Pie Criterium, with @freeframed earning a hard fought 🥉in a huge Elite 4 field, and our man who’s on a mission this season, @jyangsta nearly holding off the field on a race-long solo breakaway for an amazing 🥈in the Elite 3 race.

Here we go — the early season races are in full swing and Cal Aggie did not disappoint 🔥

All the boys did an awesome job of controlling the fields, making breaks and sticking them. Everyone did multiple races with some tripling up!!!

Coast Ride complete. What a weekend! Dolce Vita showed up in big numbers this year. The ride featured perfect weather, town sign sprints and some shared accomplishments with a great community.
